What distinguishes Hidden Champions
Nowhere else in the world are there so many hidden champions as in Germany: As a rule, these are successful family businesses that offer technologically complex and high-quality niche products for the respective customer needs.
How do the "hidden winners" differ from non-hidden champions? Answers to this question are provided by Michael Holz, Dr. Susanne Schlepphorst and Dr. Nadine Schlömer-Laufen (all IfM Bonn) in the current policy brief "Worauf der Erfolg der Hidden Champions beruht". According to this, the hidden champions do not attach any particular importance to publicly available subsidies, for example. Nevertheless, they benefit from the economic policy framework conditions in Germany.
The Institut für Mittelstandsforschung IfM) Bonn and the Förderkreis Grünungs-Forschung e.V. (FGF) jointly publish the Policy Brief "Unternehmertum im Focus" (formerly "Mittelstand aktuell"). On 2 pages, scientifically founded research results on current topics are presented together with possible recommendations for action.
All scientists working in the field of entrepreneurship, start-up and innovation research or researching family businesses, SMEs and SME policy are invited to publish in the Policy Brief - a reference to a currently relevant topic shoulf be given.
