HCU Hamburg discusses "Circular and Smart Cities" at European Week of Regions and Cities in Brüssel
How can "Circular and Smart Cities" contribute to resource efficiency and climate mitigation? This issue tackles the scientific workshop, that is organised by HCU Hamburg together with Regional Studies Association London und University of Edinburgh under the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities on 10th October in Brussels.
How can "Circular and Smart Cities" contribute to resource efficiency and climate mitigation? This issue tackles the scientific workshop, that is organised by HCU Hamburg together with Regional Studies Association London und University of Edinburgh under the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities on 10th October in Brussels. The workshop adresses experts in research, politics, administration, business and civil society. It explores potentials as well as restrictions and requirements, how sustainable urban and regional development can benefit from the concept of circularity and smart applications of new information and communication technologies.
Key notes form the universities UCL London, TU Delft and Edinburgh as well as from OECD Paris and Telekom Germany AG give a broad view on the topic. For HCU Hamburg, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Knieling, (Urban Planning and Regional Development), has been responsible for conceptualization and implementation of the workshop. HCU Hamburg is involved in several European research consortia (HORIZON 2020) related to the workshop, for example mySMARTLife on Smart City innovations and FORCE und REPAIR on urban and regional circularity.
